Soaring bird movements and bird migration was monitored at Guerreiros and Corte dos Álamos wind farms. We conducted pre-construction baseline monitoring studies for later application of RADAR Assisted Turbine Shutdown-on-Demand (RASB) as post-construction bird monitoring and mortality mitigation system.

Bird counts and spatial analysis based on mapping bird movements were performed by field ornithologists. Bird Counts were conducted at selected vantage points and all bird movements mapped on GIS and spatially analysed in order to assess the importance of the wind farm area for soaring bird migration and provide valuable information for post-construction RASB.
